My first trip to Singapore was already special – every corner of the city felt alive with culture, colour, and charm and one of the highlights of my visit was my stay at Village Hotel Albert Court by Far East Hospitality. From the moment we entered, it felt like stepping into a charming blend of history, culture, and comfort.
Located right in the middle of Singapore’s Bras Basah Bugis precinct, Village Hotel Albert Court is perfectly placed for anyone who wants to experience the true essence of the city – where modern life meets heritage and tradition. This area is one of Singapore’s most culturally rich neighbourhoods, with temples, cafés, art galleries, and local markets all within walking distance.
What makes the hotel truly special is how it celebrates the city’s multicultural roots. The intricate wood carvings and motif designs around the property pay homage to the Chetti community, a group of Indian Peranakans who once lived nearby. These artistic touches, combined with the colonial-style architecture, give the entire hotel a nostalgic and warm feel.

Step outside, and you’ll find yourself surrounded by heritage buildings and lively streets. You can stroll over to Bugis Village, a bustling market filled with tiny shops selling clothes, souvenirs, and local snacks. Or, for a spiritual experience, visit the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple, where locals often line up to get their fortunes read by tarot readers and feng shui masters.

And if you cross the street, you step right into Little India – a neighbourhood bursting with colours, aromas, and sounds. The spice shops, garland sellers, and gold stores immediately transport you back to a lively Indian bazaar. The beautiful Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, dedicated to Goddess Kali, is also located nearby and is a must-visit for its stunning architecture and cultural significance.
It’s true what they say – if you want to live like a local, this hotel places you right at the center of everything.
Since we visited during Diwali, the hotel lobby was beautifully decorated with flowers and lights. There was even a small cart in the lobby serving a refreshing local drink as part of their “Live Like a Local” initiative – a thoughtful gesture that instantly made us feel welcomed.

The check-in process was quick and efficient, and the staff greeted us with genuine smiles. From the very first moment, it felt like we were in good hands.
We stayed in the hotel’s Deluxe Room, which is where comfort meets colonial charm. As soon as we entered, we were struck by how elegant and royal the room looked. The soft lighting, classic furniture, and cozy decor gave it a homely yet sophisticated vibe.

The room was designed in a colonial style, complete with a vintage ceiling fan that added a charming heritage touch. The warm lighting and wooden furniture created a relaxing vibe – perfect for unwinding after a long day exploring Singapore. Everything was designed thoughtfully, keeping in mind both aesthetics and convenience.

Even though the decor reflected the charm of the past, the room was fitted with all modern comforts. There was an LCD TV with cable channels, complimentary Wi-Fi, and individually controlled air conditioning.

The bathroom was clean and well-maintained, with good amenities. The bathtub with a rain shower was an absolute delight after a busy day of sightseeing.

We also had access to amenities like an electric kettle, hair dryer, in-room safe, iron and ironing board, and all the essentials one could need for a comfortable stay. The combination of classic interiors and contemporary convenience made it a perfect blend of old and new. The room looked so royal and inviting that it truly felt like a home away from home.

Both our mornings began with breakfast at Albert Café, the hotel’s in-house restaurant. The restaurant has a calm and cozy atmosphere, with wooden interiors and friendly staff always ready to assist.

What truly impressed us was the variety in the breakfast buffet. There was something for everyone – from Asian to Western dishes, vegetarian to non-vegetarian options.

My mom was especially happy to find vegetarian and Indian dishes included in the spread. One morning, we had Chhole Bhature, Samosas, Veg Aglio Olio, Baked Beans, and even Jalebi. The chhole bhature were fulfilling and flavourful – soft bhaturas paired beautifully with spicy chhole. The samosas were crispy and comforting, and the jalebi added the perfect sweet touch to our meal.

The next morning, the buffet menu was slightly different – offering Parathas with Aloo Subzi, Hash Browns, Baked Broccoli, and Vegetable Fried Rice. Each dish was fresh and well-prepared, catering to both local and international tastes.

For non-vegetarians, there were options like Chicken Sui Mai, Chicken Meatballs, and other Asian & International delights.

And of course, there was a tempting dessert section with Chocolate Cake, Mixed Fruit Cake, and fresh fruits. There was also a live egg station where chefs prepared omelettes and scrambled eggs exactly as you like them. We enjoyed tea, coffee, toast, and fresh juices, rounding off a wholesome and hearty breakfast.

Breakfast at Albert Café truly set the tone for our day – hearty and flavourful.
The hotel offers more than just beautiful rooms and delicious food. For those who like to stay active even on vacation, there’s a Fitness Centre equipped with modern machines. It’s a great space to get a quick workout before heading out to explore the city.

Another thoughtful feature is their self-service laundromat, which is especially convenient for travellers on longer stays. These small details make a big difference and show how well the hotel caters to travellers’ needs.
One of the best parts about staying at Village Hotel Albert Court is how easy it is to explore the nearby attractions. From tasting authentic Peranakan cuisine to sipping coffee at an artsy café or shopping for souvenirs at Bugis Street – everything is within easy reach. The Rochor MRT and Little India MRT stations are also just a short walk away, making it super convenient to travel across the city.
The hotel’s tagline, “Live Like a Local”, truly reflects the experience. Whether it was chatting with friendly shopkeepers, watching street performances, or admiring the temple architecture, we got to see a side of Singapore that felt warm and authentic.
On one of the evenings, we decided to walk to Village Hotel Bugis, another property by Far East Hospitality. We were there to experience The Landmark Restaurant, which is famous for its halal buffet – and it turned out to be one of the most memorable meals of our trip!

The moment we stepped inside, we were amazed by the grand ambience. The restaurant had a royal feel, with big chandeliers, elegant décor, and spacious seating — perfect for families and large groups.

We began our dinner with some soft beverages and fruit punch juice, which we got from a vending machine in the restaurant.

Then it was time to explore the buffet, and honestly, it was huge!
The buffet spread was huge, offering an incredible variety of cuisines. The spread reminded us of Indian weddings – absolutely satisfying. We started with the Salad section, where we tried coleslaw, Italian pasta salad, apple salad, chickpea salad, shirazi salad, corn salad, and Thai glass noodles. Each salad was refreshing and flavourful, with multiple dressings to choose from.

Next up were the Appetizers – and what a spread it was! There were yam rolls, crispy shrimp balls, fried tapioca, vegetable spring rolls, cheese sticks, mutton satay, chicken sausages, lamb carving, corn on the cob, and even pizzas. Everything was delicious, and the variety ensured there was something for everyone.

For seafood lovers, there was an entire Seafood section featuring lobsters, crabs, fish, and even oysters. There was also a Western section with pasta, roasted meats, and sides, catering to all tastes. But what made me the happiest was the Indian counter, serving dishes that reminded me of home. The spread included Black Pepper Chicken, Aloo Matar with Chicken Keema, Fish Tikka, Tandoori Chicken, and Assorted Naan. The flavours were rich, authentic, and comforting. It felt amazing to enjoy such delicious Indian food in Singapore.

And of course, no meal is complete without dessert! We ended our feast with Gulab Jamun, cakes and pastries, marshmallows dipped in a chocolate fountain, and some fresh fruits. It was the perfect way to wrap up a wholesome meal.

Our stay at Village Hotel Albert Court by Far East Hospitality was truly one of the highlights of our Singapore trip. The combination of heritage charm, modern comfort, and warm hospitality made it an experience to remember.
From the Diwali decorations and refreshing welcome drink to the delicious breakfasts at Albert Café and the luxurious halal buffet dinner at The Landmark, every moment was special.

The hotel’s location also deserves a mention – being surrounded by such vibrant neighbourhoods made it easy to explore the local culture, food, and attractions.
