Singapore had always been on my travel list – a city that blends culture, modernity, and vibrancy so effortlessly. On my first trip to this beautiful island nation, I wanted to experience both the comfort of a good hotel stay and the local charm of the neighbourhoods. That’s exactly what I found at Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon, located in the heart of Little India – one of the city’s most colourful and culturally rich areas.

From the moment we checked in to the moment we left, every detail – from the room to the food to the service made our stay memorable.

We arrived in Singapore in the evening after a long flight. The cab ride from Changi Airport to Little India was smooth, and since we reached right before Diwali, as we entered the Serangoon area, the energy immediately shifted – vibrant lights, bustling streets, and a colourful mix of old and new architecture. Just as the streets started to quiet down, we arrived at Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon, which stood elegantly.

The check-in process was seamless – quick, friendly, and efficient. The hotel lobby had a cozy yet modern aesthetic with comfortable seating, warm lighting, and subtle décor that felt inviting. The staff at the front desk welcomed us with smiles, and within minutes, we were handed our room keys.

As soon as we entered our King Room with Sofa Bed, we could sense the comfort and calm it offered after a long day of travel. The room was perfectly designed to make the most of the space available. It featured a King-sized, which turned out to be incredibly soft and comfortable, exactly what you’d expect from a Hilton property. We also had a sofa bed in the room since we were 3 people.

One of my favourite parts of the room was the bay window seating area overlooking Little India and the city skyline in the distance. Sitting there with a cup of coffee in the morning was such a peaceful start to the day.

The room had everything you could possibly need – a work desk with an ergonomic chair, 43-inch HDTV, complimentary WiFi, and all the thoughtful touches like built-in universal plug points, mini fridge, coffee/tea maker, iron and ironing board, and adjustable air-conditioning.

The walk-in shower was sleek and spacious, stocked with Peter Thomas Roth bath products that gave a refreshing start to each morning.

A special mention to the thoughtful welcome note placed in our room – such a warm gesture that instantly made us feel at home after a long day of travel.

After settling in, we took a few minutes to just relax and soak in the comfort of the room before heading down for dinner at the hotel’s in-house restaurant – Together & Co.

Our first night in Singapore couldn’t have started on a better note. The ambience of Together & Co, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant was warm and casual – perfect for both travellers and locals looking for a hearty meal after a busy day.

We decided to go for their À la carte Dinner, and everything we ordered turned out to be a treat. We started with some refreshing fresh coconut water that instantly rehydrated us after a long travel day.

For starters, we ordered Chicken 65, Crispy Veg Spring Rolls served with sweet Thai chilli sauce, and Garlic Bread. The Chicken 65 had the perfect balance of spice and crispness – juicy, flavourful, and comforting. The Veg Spring Rolls were absolutely delicious; the outer layer was perfectly crisp, and the filling inside was fresh and full of flavour – easily one of my favourite starters of the night. The Garlic Bread was simple yet satisfying.

For the main course, we chose a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes so we could experience a variety of flavours. The Vegetarian Biryani Pyramid was beautifully presented and served with cucumber raita, potato samosa, and papadum. The aroma of spices was heavenly, and each bite was rich and flavourful.

The Chargrilled Harissa Chicken with Lemon Rice was the star of the evening. The chicken was perfectly grilled with a smoky flavour, paired with tangy lemon rice, harissa aioli, fresh pomegranate, wild arugula, and roasted bell peppers. It was a combination that felt both vibrant and comforting.

The Club Sandwich was another great choice – a classic done right, layered with lettuce, tomatoes, mayonnaise, and served with crispy fries and a refreshing garden salad.

We couldn’t resist ending the meal on a sweet note. For desserts, we ordered a Fruit Platter with fresh local fruits, a Homemade Chocolate Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream, and a Burnt Cheesecake topped with strawberry coulis and mint. The brownie was rich and gooey, paired perfectly with the ice cream, while the burnt cheesecake was creamy, smooth, and indulgent – the perfect end to a beautiful dinner. Every dish was well-presented, flavourful, and made with care, and the overall dining experience felt comforting – the kind that makes you feel at home even in a new country.

Over the next two mornings, breakfast at Together & Co. became something we genuinely looked forward to. What stood out immediately was how well-balanced the buffet was, offering a wide range of options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

My mom being a vegetarian traveller was delighted to find a separate vegetarian section at the buffet – a thoughtful touch that’s often hard to find in many international hotels.

On Day 1, the spread included Dal Sambhar, Vada, and Idli along with Chana Masala, Hash Browns, and Tomato Rice. On Day 2, the vegetarian section had Biryani Rice, Aloo Subzi, and Roti along with Veg Spring Rolls and Veg Noodles.

For non-vegetarians, there were plenty of options too — from salami and ham to a live noodle station and an egg counter where the chefs made omelettes and eggs-to-order.

The juice station was refreshing with freshly squeezed pineapple, apple, pink guava, and mango juices, along with fresh fruit platters, cereals, muesli, rice porridge, and salad options.

And the best part? They served Starbucks coffee in the buffet menu! It was such a pleasant surprise. For those who preferred something more local, there were also options for Filter Coffee and Masala Chai – both aromatic and authentic.

Every morning, we spent almost an hour just enjoying breakfast slowly – sipping chai, watching the morning light flood in, and planning our day ahead in Singapore.

One of the biggest advantages of staying at Hilton Garden Inn Serangoon is its location. The hotel sits right in the middle of Little India, one of Singapore’s most iconic neighbourhoods. Just a short walk away, you’ll find the Mustafa Centre, a 24-hour shopping paradise where you can find almost anything – from electronics to souvenirs.

The Little India MRT Station is only about half a kilometer from the hotel, making it incredibly easy to explore other parts of Singapore like Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands, and Suntec City.

What made our stay even more convenient was that right opposite the hotel is Kailash Parbat, a popular Indian restaurant known for its authentic flavours. One evening, we had dinner there and absolutely loved the comforting Indian dishes – it truly felt like a taste of home in Singapore.

Right next to the hotel stands a beautiful temple, adding a cultural touch to the surroundings. In the evenings, the streets around the hotel come alive with bright lights, fragrant food stalls, and a mix of locals and tourists enjoying the atmosphere.

Hilton Garden Inn Serangoon offers all the amenities you’d expect from a global hospitality brand, with a local twist.

The outdoor swimming pool offers a stunning view of the city – especially during sunset, when the skyline starts to light up. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of sightseeing.

For those who like to stay active while traveling, there’s a 24-hour fitness centre equipped with modern machines and weights.

The hotel also has laundry services, room service, and a business center, which makes it suitable for both leisure and business travellers.

Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and always ready to help – whether it was arranging a cab, giving directions, or suggesting nearby food spots. Their hospitality truly elevated our experience.

Our stay at Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon was nothing short of wonderful. It offered the perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and culture. The King Room was cozy and well-equipped, Together & Co. impressed us with its delicious meals and thoughtful vegetarian options, and the location couldn’t have been better for exploring Singapore’s cultural heart.

Whether you’re a first-time visitor like me or a frequent traveller, Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon makes you feel right at home. It’s a hotel where modern comfort meets cultural charm – a place I would gladly return to on my next trip to Singapore.
